Newly Unveiled Program Helps Coordinate Research And Healthcare In Maritimes

A newly launched program in the Maritimes will likely mean better coordinated healthcare research and involvement of patients in the decision making process.

The Maritime Strategy for Patient Oriented Research SUPPORT unit was launched today in Moncton.

Executive Director of the Maritime SUPPORT Unit Dr. Adrian Levy says the major focus is about engaging patients and eliciting their values and priorities at all stages of research.

“This includes defining health research questions, participating in study teams, interpreting results, and eventually in time helping design system improvements,” says Dr. Levy.

Dr. Levy says they have secured funding of 17.2 million dollars over the next five years.
