Important To Recognize Youth With Concerns Over Mental Health

One in four youth will have a mental health issue, problem or illness in their lifetime.

Consequently it’s increasingly important that we recognize the symptoms of mental illness so we can address the issue early on.

Anglophone East spokesperson Sharon Ross says it’s difficult to tell the difference between normal youth behaviour and symptoms of mental illness.

Yout could show a variety of symptoms including more sleep, less sleep, aggressive behaviours, drug and alchol use, withdrawal or their marks may go down in school.

Ross says they want to connect students and parents with community and school support systems to help those suffering from mental illness.
