RCMP are continuing to search for more victims that may have been sexually exploited by a man posing online as a teenaged girl.
A 24-year-old Moncton man was arrested and is facing several sex related charges. RCMP revealed yesterday that he was first arrested by RCMP in December and then re-arrested in February. RCMP also seized computer equipment from a Moncton home.
This was part of a much bigger investigation called Project Hydra, that was launched by RCMP in York Region in Ontario. 17 countries are involved, with a total of 41 people arrested and 110 criminal charges laid. 19 child victims have been identified so far, but it’s believed there could be up to 2000 victims in several countries including Canada and the United States and they may not have known they were being victimized.
RCMP say boys were lured online on several social media and chat sites between 2012 and 2014, and sexually exploited by a man posing as a teenaged girl.
