Taxpayers have forked out more for scheduling conflicts at the Moncton Coliseum than first thought.
It was learned earlier this week at a Committee of the Whole Meeting, that in March, the Moncton Wildcats had to move a Friday and Saturday game to Thursday and Sunday instead due to scheduling conflicts at the Coliseum.
Then in April, a playoff game had to be moved to Fredericton due to another conflict.
City Councillors Brian Hicks offered his reaction to the news.
“I was surprised… just like Council was surprised there was a conflict in the first place.”
Councillor Charles Leger says this offers a clearer picture of what needs to be done.
“I feel we need to hold staff accountable. We need to make sure that we don’t repeat the same mistakes.”
In total this season, the City of Moncton has paid out roughly $185,000 to the Moncton Wildcats organization due to scheduling conflicts and lost revenue.
