Pest Control Program To Begin Soon In Metro Moncton

Believe it or not, those pesky mosquitoes and other biting flies will be annoying all of us soon.

But thanks to efforts by the Greater Moncton Pest Control Commission, there will be fewer critters to swat this summer.

Assistant General Director Mike Magee says a ground-based program to check for mosquito larvae is set to begin next week.

“We have various ways of getting to it, which is doing it literally by hand on small sites to using our argos with mechanical spreaders on marshes.”

Magee adds an environmentally-friendly biological larvicide is spread over larvae and not sprayed, contrary to popular belief.
