UPDATE: Scrapping The Quebec Terminal Means A One Year Delay For Energy East

TransCanada announcing changes to the project that will delay the opening of the Energy East pipeline by one year.

The company will not be building a marine and associated tank terminals at Cacouna, Quebec and the decision is the result of the recommended change in status of beluga whales to endangered.
Spokesperson Tim Duboyce says as of right now this change has no impact on New Brunswick outside of the delay.

He says they are no changes planned for the project in this province adding there are not looking at a second marine terminal beyond the Canaport Marine Terminal planned for Saint John.

Other terminal options in Quebec are being reviewed and Quebec and New Brunswick refineries would continue to be connected directly to Energy East.

The company says the change in scope and schedule means a service date of 2020 for the Energy East pipeline.
