Police Say Loud Bang Was Likely A Blown Transformer

Codiac RCMP say a loud bang sound which was heard in northeast Moncton late this morning was likely from a nearby power transformer that blew up.

The neighbourhood did experience a brief power interruption around 10:30-am.

Police blocked off a portion of McLaughlin Drive near Beechwood Avenue for about two hours around lunch time to investugate after complaints about the loud sound were reported.

Officers secured a building where the noise reportedly came from but the blockade was eventually lifted.

No arrests were made in the incident.
