More Information Released On Air Canada Crash Landing

Investigators are back on the scene this morning after a plane crash at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder have been recovered from the scene of the crash and has been sent to Ottawa to be analysed.

An investigator with the Transportation Safety Board say the 138 people who were on board the flight are “pretty lucky”.

Their plane came down more than 300 metres short of a Halifax runway. 23 people were taken to hospital after the hard landing. All but one have been released.

The plane lost its landing gear and a wing was severely damaged. It was snowing heavily at the time and the bad weather has not been ruled out as contributing to the hard landing.

The Airport is open this morning, but travellers who are flying in or out of the halifax Stanfield Airport are advised to call ahead to check their flight.
