Downtown Moncton has seen its fair share of business closings lately.
Main Street already has a high vacancy rate.
Anne Poirier-Basque with Downtown Moncton Centre-Ville Inc. says a number of factors are often behind business closures.
“Some don’t stay very long… sometimes it’s mangement issues or even personal issues… there’s all kinds of reasons.
Basque adds rents are usually higher on Main Street compared to St. George Street which may account for some empty space.
Since last fall, DMCI has been working with the city’s downtown revitalization committee on a new strategy.
