Harlem Globetrotter Visits Local School For Bullying Prevention Presentation

A recent survey among school aged kids determined bullying was the number one problem they face.

As part of a program to help reduce bullying, a Harlem Globetrotter visited Queen Elizabeth school today.

Julian “Zeus” McClurkin says as role models for impressionable kids, they have a social responsibility.

“Whenever somebody looks up to you you have a lot of responsibility,” says McClurkin. “I think that the most important thing about it is that if they see that someone who is now a professional athlete who was once bullied when he was their age, then they too can overcome it.”

During his vist today, McClurkin taught students the ABC’s of Bullying Prevention, which stands for Action, Bravery and Compassion.

He says it’s very fulfilling to be able to give back to the community and inspire and change the lives of these children.

In speaking to students after the presentation, several made it clear they were inspired by McClurkin to be more compassionate in their daily lives, and to take action against bullying wherever they saw it.
