Sex Offender Not Calling Moncton Home Afterall

A 43-year-old man who served ten years in prison for a serious sex assault is now calling Newfoundland and Labrador home.

We told you last week that John Julius Obed was planning to move to Moncton after being released from Dorchester Penitentiary.

However, Shediac RCMP Constable Robert Legere has confirmed with 91.9 News that he was with Obed at the Moncton airport recently and made sure he made his flight to Newfoundland, where he is originally from.

Police say he intends to settle in Goose Bay.
