Residents of the Hildegard area in northwest Moncton are coming together to help support a neighbourhood beautification project.
Area resident Dwayne Hayes says a newly-formed committee wants to raise money to plant more than 100 trees and to make other improvements.
He says, “We targetted Hidegard Boulevard as one of those areas, just to dress up the area and make things a little bit prettier akong that street.”
Following the tragic events of last June in the neighbourhood, Hayes says residents are now closer and have become more involved in the community.
Moncton councillor Dawn Arnold also lives in the neighbourhood and she fully supports the project.
The committee behind the beautification plan will be holding a public meeting on Monday night at the Presbyterian Church on Hildegard starting at 8-pm.
