Advice From NB Fire Marshal To Help Keep Residents Safe

A few tips from the province’s Fire Marshal after the latest storm to hit parts of New Brunswick.

Douglas Browne is urging residents to have their roofs cleared and to make sure exhaust vents are clear of snow and ice.

Residents are advised to Clear roofs of excessive snow and ice buildup, but don’t do it yourself. Seek the help of a professional.

Keep all chimneys and vents clear to prevent carbon monoxide from backing up into your home, and be sure to have a carbon monoxide detector in your home.

Keep all exits clear of snow, so that your family can escape quickly if a fire, or other emergency, should happen.
