A man and woman have both been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with a foiled plot to carry out a mass shooting at a public venue in Halifax on Valentine’s Day.
According to the RCMP, 23-year-old Lindsay Kantha Souvannarathof Geneva, Illinois and 20-year-old Randall Stephen Shepherd of Halifax are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
The third person arrested, a 17-year-old man from Cole Harbour, has been released without charge and the fourth person believed to be involved, a 19-year-old man, was found dead inside a home in Timberlea.
Three long barreled rifles were apparently seized from the Timberlea home by officers.
The target of the alleged mass killing plot was in fact the Halifax Shopping Centre – the largest multi building shopping centre in Atlantic Canada.
Halifax Regional Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais is encouraging residents to go about their daily lives.
