Crews Begin Hauling Snow Away In Moncton

It has been a very busy morning in downtown Moncton, as the snow hauling has begun. They’re taking away snow from the large mounds of snow that are clogging the streets of downtown Moncton.

With three storms in the last week, and over 100 centimetres on the ground, and another storm in the forecast, the snowbanks just keep getting higher.

Spokesperson for the City of Moncton Isabelle Leblanc says with this amount of snow, they’re unable to clear sidewalks properly, and cars are having a hard time on the narrowed streets.

She says the snow hauling will take a couple of days, but once it’s complete, they’ll be able to focus on widening streets and clearing sidewalks.

She says, “We need to have those sidewalk cleared. It certainly is a safety issue. We don’t like people to have to walk on the streets.”

The snow is hauled to snow dumps around the city. Early this morning, most were going to the snow dump located behind the old landfill near the causeway traffic circle.
