An RCMP officer shot in Alberta has ties to the Maritimes.

Constable David Wynn spent time working as a paramedic and supervisor with Emergency Health Services in Bridgewater, N.S.

The 42 year old is in serious condition after being shot at a casino outside of Edmonton.

Former Mountie and current Nova Scotia MLA Mark Furey says “it’s a difficult time for many in the community who knew David.”

Meantime, the other officer shot is Auxiliary Constable Derek Bond.

The 49 years old wasn’t carrying a gun and is in stable condition.

RCMP say the shooter was found dead inside a home in St. Albert.

The shooting took place around 6:00AM AST while the officers were investigating a stolen vehicle complaint.
