Former Saint John Energy Executive Facing Prison Time In U.S.

The former Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Saint John Energy appearing in court in Utah where he pleaded guilty to attempted theft by deception.

Anthony Furness is looking at up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced on February 25th. Furness, who worked as chief financial officer of the taxpayer-owned Heber Light & Power In Utah, has admitted in court that he stole thousands of dollars from the company.

He has agreed to pay 51 thousand dollars in restitution.

Furness was accused of billing more than $50,000 in personal expenses to a company account between February 2010 and May 2013.

Furness is also wanted in Saint John on a charge of fraud over 5 thousand dollars.
