Clock Is Ticking On Downtown Entertainment Centre

The waiting game continues for a downtown entertainment centre.

The provincial government is yet to offer any firm funding commitment.

Moncton Mayor George Leblanc says in discussions with the provincial government, they expressed a need to review the project further.

He says, “we perfectly understand that. We’re very hopeful and we remain optimistic that once the provincial government has had the opportunity to do their due diligence, that they will see the importance and merits of this project and they will become partners with us.”

The City of Moncton had hoped to make a decision by December 23rd, but without the funding commitments from the federal and provincial government, they were unable to do that.

He says the clock is ticking, and they will soon be coming up against some very tight deadlines on the project.
