Heavy Snowfall For Southern Parts Of the Province

The good news weatherwise this morning, it looks like the deep freeze is coming to an end. The bad news, Old Man Winter has decided to replace it with a dumping of snow today. Schools in Anglophone East Anglophone South and Schools in District Francophone South in the following zones are closed for the day, Moncton, Dieppe, Memramcook, Shediac and Bouctouche.

We are currently under a snowfall warning.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Jean-Marc Couturier says this system will bring a mixed bag of precipitation for some areas.

He says, “It will become mixed with some rain right around Sackville, Amherst area, but generally for Moncton, Sussex and Saint John, basically we’re looking at about 20 centimetres of snow.”

Couturier says we will also see high winds, with up to 70 or 80 kilometres an hour in the Fundy region.

The snow will last for most of the day, and will end at around supper time tonight.
