Prime Minister Stephen Harper has tossed Julian Fantino out of the veterans affairs portfolio.
The announcement came today as a rookie MP was sworn-in as the replacement.
Fantino was demoted to his former role as associate minister of defence.
The former Toronto police chief had been under fire for months after being accused of mistreating Canada’s veterans.
The new minister, Ontario MP Erin O’Toole, is a lawyer and former member of the Canadian Forces.
