Public Health Agency Issues Reminder To Get A Flu Shot

A national health group is reminding people to remember to get a flu shot this winter.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the flu vaccine is safe and remains the best protection against the different strains of the virus.

The flu shot is recommended for people 65 years of age and older, nursing home residents, pregnant women and healthy children six months to 5 years of age.

You can also avoid getting sick by cleaning hands frequently; cough and sneeze into your arm, not your hand, eat healthy foods and stay physically active to keep your immune system strong.

The flu infects millions of Canadians every year.

Flu shots are typically available at local pharmacies or health clinics.
