Moncton Reaches Collective Agreement With City Workers

The City of Moncton and CUPE Local 51 have both approved a new collective agreement.

The union approved the City’s offer Tuesday night – accepting a 6.25 percent wage increase over four years and improvements to health and dental plans.

The agreement gives the City more flexibility in hours of work and the ability to reduce overtime.

The union represents about 230 workers across the city including employees in garbage collection, snow and ice control as well as maintenance and operations of parks, grounds and arenas.

The previous agreement was set to expire at the end of this month and Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc says he is pleased residents will continue to receive quality essential services.
