Rain And Ice Storm Heading For Metro Moncton

A storm system heading to Southeast New Brunswick is expected to pack quite a punch with torrential rain, gusty winds and an extended period of freezing precipitation.

Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote says the precipitation is expected to begin later today and the temperature will climb overnight.

“It’s probably going to begin in the form of wet snow and maybe mixed with ice pellets. Then in the overnight period, we’re looking at ice pellets and freezing rain.”

Cote says a month’s worth of rain could fall tomorrow – as much as 90 mm – along with winds gusting to 70 km/h before conditions slowly improve tomorrow night.
