Moncton is one of five metro areas across Canada which didn’t have any homicides in 2013.
According to Statistics Canada, the national murder rate fell eight percent last year to its lowest level since 1966.
Regina had the highest homicide rate while Toronto had the most murders of any Canadian city.
Elsewhere in the Maritimes, Saint John had two murders last year while Halifax reported six – a sharp drop from the year previous.
Across Canada, 505 homicides were reported by police services last year which is 38 fewer than 2012.
