The van that the West End Food Bank uses to transport and pick up donations is in dire need of repairs.
$1200 worth to be exact, .because of a problem with the engine and suspension.
Manager Ben MacMichael says they’ve been experiencing a shortage of funds recently because of an increase in clients.
He says, “We’ve taken on a lot of families from the recently closed YMCA, so any money we used to have to build up our food stock has gone to that, and in November it has been our busiest month in the five years that I have been with the Food Bank.”
MacMichael is hoping the public can pitch in and help to raise funds for the repairs. He says the van is used everyday, to transport non perishable goods, and they couldn’t operate without it.
You can donate online, or mail in a cheque to the Food Bank. You can find their information at www.wefb.org
