The Town of Riverview is encouraging residents to spend money locally, and are even offering prizes to achieve that end.
The town is running a campaign called “Find Your Gift In Riverview”, where the town has put a list of items in every mailbox that residents can find at stores throughout Riverview to purchase.
Director of Economic Development Shane Thomson explains how the campaign works when people buy in Riverview.
“If they decide they would like to buy one of those gift ideas, and come to Riverview to do so, they’ll receive a gift tag to attach saying they found the gift in Riverview, says Thomson. “As well as a ballot they can put in a ballot box to enter a draw to win a thousand dollar shopping spree.”
Thomson also encourages people to tweet their gifts and where they got it including the hashtag #FoundItInRiverview.
Thomson says every dollar spent locally has a multiplier impact of 300% and the holiday season accounts for typically up to 30% of annual sales.
