The provincial government is moving forward with its commitment to remove barriers that prevent women in New Brunswick from getting an abortion.
Premier Gallant says amendments will mean the procedure will no longer require two signatures from physicians stating that it is medically necessary. Gallant will also remove requirements that the procedure be performed by a specialist.
The changes will go into effect on January 1, 2015.
This will put abortion under the same category as any other insured medical service.
