NEB Chair Visits Saint John Speaking On Pipeline Safety

The new Chairman of the National Energy Board coming to Saint John to speak to a business audience on their role and their plans to improve pipeline safety by gathering input from Canadians on a national tour starting early next year.

Peter Watson says media interest is growing in the various projects before them pointing out they received 80 media calls last year and this year they have taken 600 so far.

He told the crowd the NEB finds itself in the eye of the storm in dealing with the issues of pipelines and their role of regulating pipelines in this country.

Watson expects hearings into the proposed EnergyEast pipeline will begin in the Spring of 2015 adding they have hundreds of staff going over the application to ensure it is complete.
