Economic growth rates in the four Atlantic provinces will go up next year but they’re still going to be anemic. That’s according to the outlook released by the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council which also is predicting employment growth in the Atlantic region is expected to remain muted.
New Brunswick will finish up this year with a growth rate of just 1.0%, rising to 1.7% in 2015.
Economic growth in Nova Scotia is expected to finish this year at 1.6 per cent. Increased investment next year, including the start of production on the big federal shipbuilding contract, is expected to boost the growth rate to around 1.9%.
