If the Energy East pipeline gets the go ahead from the National Energy Board, companies from the Maritimes that want to be part of the supply chain have to pre-qualify with Trans Canada.
Premier Brian Gallant says the pre-qualification is mostly about safety and quality.
The Premier says his government will set up a task force that will be there to help companies meet the specifications.
