Needles Jammed In Potatoes, Investigation Expands

Some major developments today in the food tampering case involving potatoes in Atlantic Canada. Police now say six potatoes with sewing needles jammed inside have been reported in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland. They were all sold through Linkletter Farms of Summerside, PEI. Mounties say the food tampering case also includes a french fry production facility in New Annan, PEI. However, the metal objects in the french fries were discovered before they went on-sale. Sergeant Leanne Butler says the needles were intentionally lodged in the potatoes. No charges have been laid.
