In the Majors, St. Louis tying up its National League championship with San Francisco at 1 game each after a 5-4 win on a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 9th by Kolten Wong. The Cardinals hit four homers.
In the “Q”, Adam Marsh had a goal and an assist and Sebastien Auger kicked aside 35 shots to lead the Sea Dogs to a 4-1 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders. The Sea Dogs have 16 points and sit in first place in the Maritimes Division. In other play, Halifax lost to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 2-0.
In the NHL, the Leafs beat the Rangers 6-3 after scoring 5 goals in the second period and the Los Angeles KIngs won their first game of the season, 4-1 over Winnipeg.
In Major Midget hockey, the Saint John Vitos won twice over the weekend, 4-1 over the Kensington Wild and 4-3 over the Miramichi Rivermen 4-3.
In Nova Scotia Junior ‘B’ Hockey, Pictou County defeated Liverpool 4-3.
In Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey, the Charlie’s Pizza South Shore Mustangs topped Cape Breton West 3-2.
In the NFL, Dallas improved to 5 and 1 with a 30-23 win over Seattle…….Philadelphia remains tied with the Cowboys in the N-F-C East after shutting out the New York Giants 27-0……New England leads the A-F-C East at 4 and 2 following a 37-22 win over Buffalo……San Diego is now 5 and 1 after a 31-28 win over Oakland. Denver is right behind in the A-F-C West at 4 and 1 after downing the Jets 31-17. Arizona leads the N-F-C West at 4 and 1 with a 30-20 win over Washington. Elsewhere, it was Green Bay 27 Miami 24……..Cincinnati 37 Carolina 37 (OT)……..Baltimore 48 Tampa Bay 17…….Cleveland 31 Pittsburgh 10……Tennessee 16 Jacksonville 14…..Detroit 17 Minnesota 3 and Chicago 27 Atlanta 13.
