Brian Gallant And Cabinet Sworn-In

Premier Brian Gallant has been officially sworn-in today at a ceremony at the legislature in Fredericton.

Lieutenant-Governor Graydon Nicholas presided over the ceremony in which 13 cabinet ministers including the premier were named – the smallest provincial cabinet since 1965.

In addition to his role as premier, Brian Gallant will also chair the New Brunswick Jobs Board and become the minister responsible for innovation, intergovernmental affairs, women’s equality and rural affairs.

Ministers from Southeast New Brunswick are Victor Boudreau as health minister, Roger Melanson as minister of finance and transportation and newly elected Cathy Rogers who will become social development minister.

Stephen Horsman becomes deputy premier, public safety minister and justice minister.

Denis Landry becomes minister of natural resources, Don Arsenault has been named energy and mines minister and Bill Fraser becomes tourism minister.

Rick Doucet takes on several portfolios including minister of economic development, agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries.

Ed Doherty becomes government services minister, Brian Kenny is minister of environment, Serge Roussell is education minister and attorney general and Francine Landry becomes post-secondary education minister.

Longtime Moncton Liberal MLA Chris Collins was not on the list.
