NB Senior Citizen’s Association Unclear Regarding Increase In Prescriptions For Seniors

Will it be mandatory for senior citizens to pay extra for their prescriptions under the provincial drug plan? These are some of the questions being raised by the New Brunswick Senior Citizen’s Association.

They met with the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association yesterday to get some clarity on the issue especially when the Department of Health said in a statement that it is not requiring pharmacies to collect co-payments and there is nothing in the legislation saying pharmacies can’t continue to waive or reimburse seniors.

President of the NB Senior’s Association, Robea Cormier said , there are still some steps they need to take before a clear understanding of the policies can be determined.

Once our new Liberal Government is sworn in , Cormier said they will also be in touch with the Department of Health to discuss the issues further.
