Crackdown On Distracted Driving Continues

RCMP across the province are continuing their efforts to crackdown on distracted driving.

A recent study suggests that distracted driving is overtaking impaired driving on many of Canada’s highways. In New Brunswick, impaired driving and not wearing a seatbelt are still the number one and two contributing factors to deaths in collisions, but distracted driving isn’t far behind.

Traffic service officer with New Brunswick RCMP Staff Sergeant James Bates, says it’s very easy to be distracted by a smartphone or IPad, but he adds it shouldn’t take your attention away from the road and concentrating on what is happening around you.
