Controversy Arises As FIFA Officials Visit Moncton

Real grass versus artificial turf has become controversial in the soccer world as FIFA officials visit Moncton Stadium ahead of next year’s Women’s World Cup.

A group of elite female soccer players has filed a lawsuit because they want to play on real grass.

Moncton mayor George LeBlanc says he’s not going to comment on the controversy and prefers to highlight the event itself and how it will be great for the city.

FIFA Canada’s stadium official Don Hardman says having artificial turf was part of Canada’s bid and that’s why Moncton Stadium was converted.

Moncton is one of six cities across the country which will host matches next June.
