NB Business Council Wants More Research On Shale Gas

The New Brunswick Business Council wants to see more research on shale gas and partnerships with universities to explore what the industry could mean for the province.

Susan Holt, president and CEO of the leading business group, says research has already shown that shale in New Brunswick is extremely thick, a lot thicker than shale found in the U.S.

Holt says if you were to fracture the shale horizontally, you could put multiple layers of fracking into one bed of shale.

Based on those findings and with more research, Holt and her group feel New Brunswick could have a far more productive resource and get a more value out of one well pad than what has been found elsewhere.

Holt spoke to members of the Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club Friday afternoon.
