It’s the end of the road for Hub Meat Packers.
The company will wrap up operations this afternoon after 48 years.
The plant opened in Moncton in 1966 and was owned by the Rinzler Family. At the time it only employed 8 people and from there it grew to hundreds of employees.
The facility is now owned by Maple leaf Foods, and it was announced in 2011 that operations were being trimmed back and closed in 2014.
Since then, many employees have been relocated, and transitioned into other companies.
