Moncton Man To Be Sentenced In November For Threatening to Set Girlfriend On Fire

A Moncton man has pleaded guilty to threatening to set his girlfriend on fire after spraying her with a flammable liquid.

A trial was supposed to begin yesterday in Moncton court for 30-year-old Shawn Melvin Ezerskis who faces three charges.

But after he pleaded guilty, a sentencing date was set on November 4th for assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

Ezerskis is free in the meantime but must abide by a number of strict conditions imposed by the court including no contact with the 24-year-old victim.

Codiac RCMP say a woman showed up at the police station in January and claimed she had been assaulted by a man and that she had been sprayed with paint thinner.

She alleges the man threatened to set her, and the apartment they were in, on fire.
