Higgs Elected In Quispamsis, Flemming In Rothesay

Two high-profile cabinet ministers in the Alward Government holding onto their seats in the Kennebecasis Valley.

Blaine Higgs who served as the Finance Minister being elected in the riding of Quispamsis and he tells us throughout his campaign he focused on the big picture. He says he ran on a platform that he would do his work to improve the province which would, in turn, improve Quispamsis as a part of it, adding that we cannot think of ridings as isolated from the province.

Higgs defeating Liberal Mary Schryer who also ran against him and lost back in 2010. Schryer says they had a lot of divisive issues in Quispamsis including shale gas, reproductive rights and the pension plan.

Ted Flemming, who served as Finance Minister in the Alward Government, being elected in the riding of Rothesay which has historically been a Conservative stronghold. He says they have been going straight out with a great team, and they are satisfied with the result.

Flemming defeating the principal of Rothesay High School Liberal candidate Stephanie Tomilson. Tomilson saying she is very proud of the campaign she ran and she will continue to involve herself in politics.
