Alward Pledges Not To Raise HST

As the election campaign heads into its final weekend, Conservative Leader David Alward is making a final plea to voters to re-elect his government on Monday.

During a stop today at “Toys for Big Boys”, a Moncton recreational retailer, Alward pledged that he would not raise the HST if he becomes premier again.

Alward says campaign promises from the Liberals would put New Brunswick at a disadvantage compared to neighbouring provinces.

Alward repeated his message about how the Liberals are saying no to shale gas and economic development which will continue to force young people to leave the province in search of work elsewhere.

He also briefly weighed in on the uglier tone of the campaign this week noting that it’s telling that Liberal leader Brian Gallant is now attacking other parties and not discussing his campaign promises anymore.
