NDP leader Dominic Cardy has made a campaign commitment to stop the practice of politicians hiring and firing civil servants.
Cardy says, if he becomes premier, he’ll also take away ministerial discretion to award contracts, introduce whistle-blower legislation and stop the Liberal and Conservative practise of moving government offices out of opposition-held constituencies and into government held-constituencies.
The announcement was made in front of the legislature yesterday as part of the NDP’s ongoing plan to clean up government and do politics differently.
