Shale Gas Moratorium Still Major Issue in Political Campaigning Amongst Leaders

The Liberals have offered more details on what they mean by a moratorium on shale gas, saying exploration and drilling would be allowed but not actual fracking. The Energy Minister in the Alward Government, Craig Leonard warns Alberta oil companies will not invest in the province if there is a moratorium on shale gas.

Yesterday, Conservative Leader David Alward was in Moncton and once again reiterated the need to create jobs in the province through shale gas and natural resource development.

Alward says, We need to stop sending our family members away to other provinces to do work that could also be done here. They don’t want to be skypeing their kids and grandkids in Saskatchewan. They want to be able to visit them on the weekends and spend family time there. They don’t want families separated like so many families are separated today.”

The Conservatives have been attacking Provincial Liberal Leader Brian Gallant on his stance for months, calling it irresponsible.
