The Joshua Group which does not receive any government funding and was on its last legs has been given a financial reprieve of $25,600 from the 100 Women Who Care who heard an emotional presentation from founder Bobby Hayes.
He talked about a young boy who saw his mom beaten up by a crackhead and another whose mother was passed out drunk with nothing in the house to eat in the home.
Hayes says too many young people in the city are growing up in places infested with bedbugs and mould and nowhere to turn because the people in government who should be doing something aren’t helping them.
He also says the problem with bed bugs has been prevalent for a couple of years now but people in public housing are afraid to speak out for fear of being evicted.
