A lot of attention will be focused tonight on the first of the debates between the provincial party leaders in Moncton.
Provincial Finance Minister Blaine Higgs is defending the forestry deal cobbled together by the Alward Government, claiming to cancel it, as the Green Party is calling for, would be devastating to the provincial economy.
As for the Liberals’ proposals, Higgs is warning, if adopted, they would damage the province’s credit rating, interest rates would rise and taxes would have to increase.
Provincial Liberal leader Brian Gallant is expected to make a big deal of the Alward Government’s poor record on job creation. He will also be pressing the Premier on the promises that were unfulfilled.
