FREDERICTON, N.B. – The New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance is applauding a decision by the Government of Nova Scotia to place a ban on hydraulic fracking.
Alliance Spokesperson Jim Emberger believes it’s a step in the right direction and he’s calling on the Alward government to do the same.
“They went through a long procedure of soliciting scientific evidence and comments and they came to the same conclusion that so many other of these commissions have like the Council of Canadian Academies several months back. Basically, we can’t verify that this is safe.”
Emberger says the fact the Alward government is touting fracking in its election campaign is irresponsible given the risks involved.
