The City of Moncton is considering a different approach to its bulk waste collection week.
The City is looking at moving the clean-up to every fifth week giving citizens ten chances per year to put out their unwanted furniture, appliances and other big items.
Environmental Services G-M Jack MacDonald says, currently, bulk waste collection at the curbside is limited to what’s known as “Spring Clean-Up Week” in May.
“Rather than have one bulk collection, where anything goes, this would be three to four items per collection, ten times a year.”
MacDonald says they hope the change will reduce the cost of collecting the trash.
Council will make a final decision on the matter once a tender comes in on the actual pricetag of the proposal.
