Egg farmers help to feed hungry students

As the school year gets underway, a new partnership is helping feed hungry children in Metro Moncton and across the country.

Egg Farmers of Canada is putting its weight behind Breakfast Club of Canada, which has volunteers serving breakfast to kids before school.

Program spokesperson Don Inouye says one child in seven goes to school on an empty stomach, which has troubling implications..

“Children simply don’t learn as well, they don’t progress as well and they don’t adjust socially when they’re hungry, that’s a fact. This partnership with egg farmers helps to ensure that kids start their day without those challenges.”

Breakfast Club of Canada is in 20 schools across New Brunswick, and most are in Metro Moncton.
