Council of Canadians holds candidate Q and A sessions

MONCTON, NB–Moncton residents will get a chance to find out where local candidates stand on important issues at a series of community-led Q-and-A events next month.

The Moncton chapter of the Council of Canadians is hosting five sessions beginning September 3rd where candidates will answer questions on a wide range of topics including the economy, health, education, social justice and the environment.

Moncton Council of Canadians spokesperson Pamela Ross says they’re using the non-partisan events to celebrate the opportunity for direct citizen engagement.

“The main goal is to encourage people to get involved in politics and to try and help them understand that policies and decisions in the legislature do affect them and it is important that they get out and vote.”

Moncton East candidates will answer questions on September 3rd at the Crossman Centre, the Moncton Northwest event will be on September 4th at the Lutz Mountain Meeting House and the Moncton South event will be on September 9th at the Moncton Lions Community Centre.

The dates and locations for Moncton Centre and Moncton Southwest have yet to be announced.

All events will take place from 7 until 9 p.m.
