1944 – 2026
We are sad to announce the passing of David Lawrence Young on Saturday, October 24, at Albert House in Moncton. David did life his way, and he did death his way as well. After spending the morning in a sun-warmed chair with his family, laughing and reflecting on a life well lived, David knew it was time to go. With the “I love yous” spoken, hugs and kisses given but never enough, and a few final promises made, he rested his tired head in the arms of his true love, Anne. Just after noon, with his children gathered around him, he said goodbye with a heart full of love and a mind at peace.
David was father to Leigh, Michael, and Terri, and stepfather to Jeff and Bonnie. He was a devoted Grampy to Julia and Daniella, Jada, Makayla and Chase, Luca, Jameson and Maclean, Finley and Madden; brother to Michael Francis; and father-in-law to Marco, Kim, Catherine, and Eric.
He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Frank Young; his two sisters, Margaret Ellen and Virginia (Mike); and his brother, Frank.
David shared his life with his true love and soulmate, Anne Chapman Young (née Gillies). High school sweethearts, they loved one another fiercely and poured that love into their home at the beach. Together they made their cottage a magical place for their children and grandchildren, where laughter came easily and everyone who walked through the door felt at home.
David had a place for everything and everything in its place—no exceptions. His cars were always showroom-ready, his sock drawers perfectly ordered and his garage meticulously clean. His lawn was as soft and spotless as any carpet. Walking on it felt like stepping onto a cloud, though you sure didn’t want to leave a mark. Dogs, keep off! His skills behind the wheel were second to none, and he passed those skills down to his children—or at least the idea that they were the best. And no matter where he was in the house, he always knew when someone had left the patio door open. DOOR!!
David, your mischievous laugh will ring happily in our ears forever. Your beautiful smile is imprinted in our memories, the love you gave is entangled in our souls, and we will carry a piece of you with us, always. And a chocolate bar.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (506-869-2007).
